DONATED BEDS PROGRAM - SLEEP COUNTRY CANADA

Through a partnership with Sleep Country Canada, our clients can receive donated used mattresses and box spring free of charge.

Community Health Bus

The community Health Bus is a mobile health, medical and dental clinic
Community Health Bus is available at the Centre every other Wednesday (unless otherwise notified).

  • The bus provides free services to children, youth and adults who are residents of Hamilton.
  • Dental prevention and treatment- including extractions, fillings, antibiotics and teeth cleaning
  • Immunization
  • Health Information Counselling and referral to services
  • Ontario Works information
  • Sexual Health
  • Head Lice
  • Harm Reduction
  • Healthy Living
  • Smoking Cessation

Gift of Sight Program

Lenscrafter provides free glasses to those who have no other means of paying for them. To be eligible to receive this service, clients must not be in receipt of OW or ODSP. Clients should have a current prescription for eyeglasses. Neighbour to Neighbour Centre acts as a referral agent for this service.

Free Income Tax Clinic

In March and April an Income Tax Clinic is available free of charge to low income families in our community. This service is available at Neighbour to Neighbour Centre by appointment only

Stages of Change-Violence Against Women Counselling

Information and support is provided at Neighbour to Neighbour Centre for women facing violence against women issues. A Transitional Support Worker from Interval House is available at Neighbour to Neighbour Centre every Tuesday for one on one therapeutic counselling. more information on VAW Councelling

Housing Help

Housing help is available the first Tuesday of every month at Neighbour to Neighbour Centre from 1.00 pm to 3.30 pm

Clients can receive

  • daily listings of available housing units
  • Listings of public, non-profit and co-operative housing programs
  • Application forms for assisted housing
  • Listings and applications of government housing for seniors
  • Information on emergency shelters for men and women
  • Information on programs of interest to tenants
  • A free listing service, for landlords and property managers to list vacant rooms, apartments and homes
  • Listings and a brief description of Residential Care Facilities
  • Basic information and referrals on the Tenant Protection Act
  • Maintains an up-to-date directory of housing units which are accessible to disabled persons.

Community Gardens

The Athens Street Community Garden is a joint effort by Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and Neighbour To Neighbour Centre The community garden provides individual plots for gardeners to grow some of their own food. A $5.00 fee provides each family with a variety of seeds and plants to grow.

Immanuel Christian Reformed Church members coordinate the goings-on at the garden, provide garden plots, plants, and seeds, and garden alongside the community gardeners. Neighbour To Neighbour makes applications available to its clients in April and May and provides water for the garden plots.

Parkview Church – Clothing and Household Items

Neighbour to Neighbour Centre is a referral agent for Parkview Church. Clients who request a referral to Parkview Church can visit once every three months to browse through and select various free household items and clothing for themselves and their families. The church is open every Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
